Quicksand
A young man was found with drugs in his possession this past week. I am related to him, and heard about the news from his mother, who was in hysterics over her son's tragic choice. {Supposedly a Christian}
A young girl {who claims to be a born-again Christian} is immoral and curses God without any hesitation. I spent 5 weeks with her, teaching and admonishing her on how she could better live for Christ.
A man who is a Christian, but believes that his past failures give him the "okay" to live a compromised lifestyle. He desires freedom, but is caught in his own selfishness.
A boy who rebels against his parents to pursue his own desires. A Christian, deceived by Satan. Blind to his own sin, and blaming those whom God placed in his life as his protectors.
A friend on their own, denying Christ having any place in his life, enticed by his own lust and giving way to sin.
They are being sifted...but will sink if they do not lift up their eyes in recognition of their need for a Savior.
"...On Christ the Solid Rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand."
Many prayers for these friends are written down in my prayer journal, and I {in my own way} understand what they are going through. I have been sifted, and all glory to God for it, for He pulled me out of the mire that I once was neck deep in.
He gave me a Godly sorrow...a healthy response that brought repentance and total freedom from any regret.
Isaiah 42:7 paints the perfect picture of total freedom:
"To open blind eyes, to bring out prisoners from the dungeon and those who dwell in darkness from the prison."
My heart goes out to those who are on sinking sand...because I have been there and I know they are reachable.
"He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm." ~Psalm 40:2

The Word of God I think of as a straight edge, which shows up our own crookedness. We can't really tell how crooked our thinking is until we line it up with the straight edge of Scripture. ~ E. Elliot
What we say affects our eternal destiny.
