{Despised}
In the wee hours of the morning we went Black Friday shopping. In our sweats and warm fuzzies we waited patiently for a chance to grab a great deal on a crock-pot. We were happy ~ cracking jokes, laughing and giggling at nonsensical subjects. We rounded a corner as the line moved, and were greeted by a friendly voice saying, "Merry Christmas." An arm reached out extending a tract into my hands. I looked at it with a smile and sent up a prayer thanking God for those young evangelists. I turned to make a comment to a friend, but my eye caught something.
Torn pieces of paper floating down into the mud.
A look of disgust and bitterness upon his face.
I gazed at the at the person with an ache of sadness in my soul.
Our line moved. Feet trample upon the soaked pages.
More torn remains crossed my vision.
More angry words.
Thrown away.
Refused.
Despised.
Hated.
He who came to seek and to save that which was lost.
{"He was despised and forsaken of men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and like one from who men hide their face. He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Surely our griefs He Himself bore, and our sorrows He
carried; Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But He
was pierced through for out transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; The
chastening for our well being fell upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. All of us
like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned his own way; but the Lord has caused
the iniquity of us all to fall upon Him...He Himself bore the sin of many, and interceded for the transgressors."} ~~Isaiah.53:3-6,12
Wow - that's so sad. Good parallel, K-tch!
