surprise direction from a good Source

A few days ago, one of my favorite people went to heaven - Elisabeth Elliot. It is a wonderful ability that Christians have to both miss a person and rejoice at their Home-going!

Anyway, since my teens, I have kept a quote book of verses, poems, and many-a-sentence from authors that influenced my life, E.E being one of them.

Two quotes from dear Elisabeth especially stand out in my mind that I hope will help introduce this post, and also sum up the last five months of seeking the Lord and sifting through five very life-changing decisions:

"The will of God is never exactly what you expect it to be. It may seem to be much worse,
but in the end it’s going to be a lot better and a lot bigger."

"When obedience to God contradicts what I think will give me pleasure,
let me ask myself if I love Him."

Through much prayer and seeking of God's direction, I have been set on a course that has been clarified by a "multitude of counselors." One that did cause me pause because it seemed so ridiculous at first, because all the other options at the time seemed like the smart thing to do.

Instead, it became clear that the smart thing to do was to abandon all roads that God blocked, and accept that Las Vegas is where God wanted me.

For nine months.
In the desert.
Doing ministry.

Yep, I leave September 14th to be with The Friends of Israel G'sherim Internship!

my feet and the Red Rock Canyon

I had the wonderful priviledge of visiting the G'sherim headquarters this spring and got see firsthand what I will be doing for these upcoming months.
As I flew over the city, God brought Psalm 63:1 to mind:

"O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly;
My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You,
In a dry and weary land where there is no water."

So, I go in the fall with the knowledge that God has brought me to this place, for this time, to do His work on behalf of His people.
Bottom line: Praise God, this sinner is going to Vegas!
(see what I mean? that just looks weird in a sentence.)

The Word of God I think of as a straight edge, which shows up our own crookedness. We can't really tell how crooked our thinking is until we line it up with the straight edge of Scripture. ~ E. Elliot

What we say affects our eternal destiny.

Please comment with these in mind, and I look forward to your encouraging and edifying comments!
